Councilwoman Dianne Bellamy-Small is incommunicado. All I am trying to do is offer her a personal apology, but I have been stymied so far. Her home phone just rings and rings. I left a message on her voice mail. I just sent her an email through the city’s website but she has told me before that she’s not electronically oriented… we’ll see.
God forbid were I a constituant who had a pressing problem with city services or something. Perhaps she was out of town for the weekend.

“once burned…” and all that.
I would imagine she is not particularly anxious to talk to ANYBODY right now. Give her space.
I wrote a column last fall about the City Council and the TRC. 8 of the 9 councilmembers returned my calls and emails. DBS was the one who did not.
She’s an elected official, not a teenager. She should respond to media calls.
Exactly my thoughts, Ed. Moreover, she should respond to calls from citizens but she certainly doesn’t make it easy.
As far as accessiblity is concerned, she seems to be the polar opposite of Sandy Carmany.
It seems I remember her telling the N&R something like “my fax machine works”. I don’t have one of those anymore and I doubt that many of her constituants do either.
truth is a hard thing to deal w…especially if u dont like it
She hasn’t returned my message of a week ago either…
She never once returned my phone calls when I wrote city council stories. I must have left over a dozen messages on her answering machine and sent about the same amount of emails, but I never heard from her. The one time I did get in touch with her, she was very short with me and abruptly hung up before I could finish asking her a simple question about “wet beds beds” in homeless shelters.
If the constituents who she represents don’t care, then nothing is going to change. Perhaps the route is to inform her constituents and see if they can encourage her to respond and represent them well. Otherwise, she is not performing the job to which they elected her. By looking bad, she makes her district look bad.
What’s her district?
Sue,
T. Dianne Bellamy-Small, Council Member, District 1
Here’s the link to her listing on the GSO Council Memebers’ Page: http://snipurl.com/qiol
And this the link to a map of the Greensboro Districts: http://snipurl.com/qioj
According to her stated priorities, “Bellamy-Small’s priorities are economic development and growth, equity of
services, empowering neighborhoods and maximizing City programs and services for families, seniors and youth.”
Just wondering out loud here, but after taking a look at the map to see if you reside in her district and determining
whether or not what you wish to discuss with her is within the framework of her priorities, and should you find yourself
lacking on both counts, could it be possibly that she doesn’t consider you worth the effort? I’m not saying that is what
she should do, I am saying that it appears to be what she is doing.
As for Hogg, could it be that she’s simply dodging you, either because she doesn’t trust you and the media in general,
or because the more she talks about anything remotely related to the report and its leak, the more likely it is that she
would let slip self-incriminating information? Perhaps she has been advised that it would be best for all concerned,
especially her, to remain silent. Maybe a little of both!

Conversation is news…
Dianne Bellamy-Small could not be reached for comment. We’ve written those words or a version of them many times over the last several months. Earlier this month, as the pressure to talk about the leaked police report approached Mount St…….
[...] “I’m fine Dianne, but I’m really sorry. I was wrong and I really don’t believe you leaked that report and that’s why I left you those messages“, I continued. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”, she quipped as she kept walking, obviously in a hurry. “Well then, I’d like to talk to you when the ceremony is over.”, I said, as I went back to my cooking duties. “I’ll try.” was her hurried answer.
