They are the champions

Our Jackson has been getting hit with 90mph hockey pucks playing roller hockey at the Greensboro Sportsplex and elsewhere for many, many years.  This past weekend he finally got his due for all of his dedication and hard work.

2006 nationalchamps.jpgAfter helping his Greensboro Spyders team win the U18 National Championship this past weekend in Columbia, SC, the eldest Hoggard child earned a coveted award on Sunday: Jack was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Goalie…

That’s my boy, front and left in the blue jersey… the one holding all the hardware.  It was a great Father’s Day present

Conratulations to Jack and all the guys.  You’ve made Greensboro proud… again.

Update 7:45p:  In an stunning reversal of fortunes, our City Council voted to reinstate Ed Hathaway’s position as roller hockey coordinator during tonight’s meeting.  (background, Carmany’s blog) Have I mentioned lately just how smart and astute our city council is …most times?

Congratulations to Jackson. So North Carolina is home to not one but two champion hockey teams!
