Rhino buzz

What with the Rhino Times next installment of Jerry Bledsoe’s “Cops in Black and White” hitting the streets today, I know what Greensboro will be talking about over the weekend.  Today’s segment brings the late Rev. Michael King and Project Homestead into the mix.

Yesterday, during my meeting with city staff about the Ice House (more on this later this evening), city manager Mitch Johnson told me the Hammer brothers had apparently sent out advance copies of their weekly containing Bledsoe’s next installment for the TV stations to mull because he recieved an interview request from WGHP.  The video of last night’s advance publicity for what is sure to be a hard-to-find Rhino edition can be found here. (Filmed by Lenslinger, come to find out)

Damn, I should have paid more attention at yesterday’s Bledsoe interview. I was too busy tweaking the focus, monitoring audio and riding the iris to soak it all in. That said, Jerry parsed out a few tidbits, promised public uproar over upcoming details and declined to say just how long this series will go on. Paid not to care, I twiddled my switches and backed off for a wide shot. Later I had a few minutes to talk writing with the delightfully cantankerous author. Good times…

I saw the Homestead headline on a coworkers desk but haven’t had the chance to read any of the article. Are they bringing anything new to the table or rehashing what we already know?

The fifth installment wasn’t a rehash, but nothing new revealed that Troublemaker’s blog hasn’t already given us. Did however leave at least me, with a lot of questions. A whole lot of questions! Brenda Bowers

Thank you Brenda! I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that.

I must admit that Bledsoe is kicking ass. I could have never done what he is doing. I attempted to show some of this. It is awesome to see real journalism take place in Greensboro…well…Asheboro actually. In my opinion…Jerry Bledsoe is doing the heavy lifting for the benefit of the whole story

Just read the full article today. Bledsoe sure has done a whole lot of research and homework. As Brenda said, it leaves many questions unanswered so I guess we’ll stay tuned.
