Free publicity…

…is a good thing.

Hickory Science Center.jpgMy company, Double Hung, is restoring the windows in a 1924 high school that now houses the Arts and Science Center for Catawba Valley in Hickory, NC.

One of the directors of the center called the local daily to see if they might be interested in what was going on.  They were.

This story, along with two unposted photos, appeared on the front page of the Hickory Daily Record today.

Good publicity, David. That is a great building, btw. Just think: if it had been in Greensboro, Dr. Grier, the newspaper, several contractors, and maybe Jim Melvin, would have seen to it that it was demolished, because, “it would be too expensive to renovate or reuse.”

Glad SOME communities respect their architectural heritage. And THANK YOU for seeing that the windows are given the respect they deserve.
