Shaker Village

Chair.jpgBath House.jpgJosie Hoggard - Spiral

We have been in Kentucky since the day after Christmas.  Headed back today in time for New Year’s Eve.

Several of the Kentucky clan shunned the Kentucky/Clemson football game yesterday in favor of a trip to the Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill about fifteen minutes from my sister’s Danville abode.

While there, daughter-with-an-eye, Josie snapped some wonderful images of the simplicity we encountered yesterday.  Enjoy…

More images to come as time allows…

We very much enjoyed our visit to Shaker Village 20 some years ago. That is except for one incident: Typical BB I said to my husband, “Well, if they separated the males and the females it’s no wonder they died out.” One of the docents was walking behind us and overheard me. She read me the riot act right there infront of God and everybody! It cured my mouth for about two hours; as long as it took us to see the rest of the village and leave. BB I loved the furnishing and coinstruction; so inventive and functional but quite lovely too. The staircase in main hall is superb.
