The floor is open to nominations

As Cone mentioned on Monday, I had a long conversation with city manager Mitch Johnson during my drive to Asheville.  He said he would like to set up a meeting with some local bloggers to accomplish two things – one was his idea, the other mine.

He is frustrated that no one is asking for and getting the city’s side of the story on recent accusations of impropriety involving his office and that of the City Attorney.  He would like to have a sit down with some local bloggers and lay it all out, then answer everyone’s questions.

Secondly, I suggested that the city should develop some mechanism – a blog perhaps – to disseminate documents and positions that could serve to counter-balance what they might believe to be damaging information.  Mitch wants to hear ideas on that front.

So… the floor is open to nominations as to who the local blogosphere believes would be best suited to attend such a meeting.  Feel free to nominate yourself (as others have already done via email).  Provide pros and cons of your nomination in the comments below and I will make the final decision as to who attends (sorry, no time nor patience for a committee).   Although the date and time will not be set in stone until sometime tomorrow, the meeting is penciled in for early next week.

Okay, boys. Back away from the testosterone.

Go ahead and have your fun, but when it comes time to get things done, we’re all (EVERY ONE OF US) going to behave like intelligent, sensible, rational people. To the degree that it is possible. If it is.

    Good God!

Don’t turn this into a witch hunt; this is Greensboro. Act like it. Civil. Polite. Ask for and demand answers, but damnit, do it politely.

This is what (supposedly) makes us different.

Thank you. Sometimes someone has to remind everyone of this.

With my popcorn all gone, I’m ready to convert from engaged bystander to participant. For those of you with a less obfuscatory bent, the translation is, “So, when and where is this meeting? Count me in.”

    Regards,

Actually, Sue said that. But she is right and her words are powerful, so I gratefully accept the credit due her.

Oops, sorry Sue and jw. For some reason I have a hard time with David’s WordPress theme when it comes to how the writer’s “handle” is connected to the text (above? below? where the hell is it?).

    :-)

    Regards,
