Fat lady not even warming up?

In January I predicted, “The Willow Oaks demolition issue is not going to be over until Ben Holder says it is over.”

The Troublemaker, riding a fresh breeze of mostly positive publicity in this week’s Yes!Weekly, says it isn’t over, and I believe him.

Rumor has it that this town’s other alt-weekly; the one that hits the streets on Thursday, isn’t quite ready to let Willow Oaks die just yet either.

If that’s right, remember this famous, but altered, ’Tennessee’ Ernie Ford line… “Seven hundred loads and what do you get?  Another day older and deeper in doo-doo.”

I’m nitpickin’ here, but I’m from Tennessee, so forgive me. Your lyrics are a little off.

    It’s:

” You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt”

    1954.

and yes, I get the poetic license with the “doo doo” part, but it’s the first part that I bring to your attention.

Would that it were only sixteen tons.

Yeah, I know Wayne. But if you read the Rhino today you’d know why I took even more poetic license than should have been allowed.

And actually, I now read it was only 150 loads… of dirt… that never got dumped up in Reidsville by a fraudulent contractor name of “God’s Way”.
