Thanks Ray

Downtown Greensboro, Inc. head Ray Gibbs is leaving on June 1st according to the Business Journal.

This city owes that man a debt of gratitude that would be difficult to overstate.  While it could be said that Ray was simply in the right place at the right time when he started his work back in 1999 and that any competent planner could have guided our downtown ship’s inertia, but I think there is more to it than that.

Ray Gibbs is one of the main catalysts that created the right place at the right time.

What a great twist of words, Hogg – creating the right time is a fabulous skill. Ray Gibbs, who was our very first Action Greensboro bus tour guide, showed us old-time Greensboro’ers places we’d never seen before and lamented all the surface parking where buildings should have been (first time I saw it that way). He’s a dynamo; whoever gets him (whichever burg) is a lucky one but better be prepared for some ‘moving forward.’
