Green on questionable local campaign finances

Yes!Weekly’s Jordan Green has published an excellent, in-depth, and troubling treatise on the relationships between Greensboro’s development community and the campaign finances of the Greensboro City Council.

Again Green and the paper for which he works are leading the way in investigative reporting for the local market.

If you haven’t yet read it, you should.  Twice.

Green called me just now to be sure that the blogosphere was alerted to the article.  I told him I had read it last night and was floored by the completeness of the investigation that obviously took weeks to compile into such a compelling story.  He says he will be happy to share all of his background numbers and spreadsheets and is working to get them posted.

This is important stuff going into November’s municipal elections.

Which way do you hold the spreadsheets to show how the Simkins PAC controls everything?

Thanks for pointing this article out. I may not have gotten to it as quickly.

    Nice work by Jordan.

    Dunno, Jim.

Perhaps Dr. Gaurino can figure that one out.

Thank you David for alerting me. I don’t see Yes! Weekly in any of the places I ordinarily go shopping and such (northern Old Battleground area) so will have to look one up. BB

I haven’t read the article as, yet but I will not be at all surprized to see there have been shenanigans between the G’boro City Council and G’boro development groups. When I went over the 2007 budget I found a lot of questionable outlays. I refer to my posts of August 18 and August 21, 2006. They are referenced so maybe someone more knowledgeable than I can explain them, or better understand them. All I know is that they pointed to some under the table deals in my opinion. BB
