Wade’s attack ads

In light of three recent ads in the Rhino Times, SHF asks, “Can Trudy Wade sleep nights?”

The ads quote snippets of blog posts that Sandy Carmany has made in the past and uses those snippets to bolster the claims made in the published attacks.  It’s probably an effective strategy to woo some portion of the electorate who get most of their news from the Rhino.

As for me, I’d rather have an elected official who tells what she is thinking and doing openly and honestly – even to the point of admitting mistakes – than one who never makes a public statement unless she is behind the dias.

If Wade’s operatives are successful in their efforts to use Carmany’s blog against her, I predict it will have a chilling effect on the future of blogging by elected officials in Greensboro’s future.  That is a bad thing.

I’m trying not to worry. Nothing but those beautiful Carmany signs in my ‘hood. These folks don’t read the Rhino anyway.

The fascist Wade would be a giant step backward for District 5.

    Go Sandy!

The “everything you say on a blog will be used against you by anyone with an axe to grind” problem is also what keeps a lot of journalists from blogging, makes journalism less transparent and is bad for the business.

If every blog post just becomes more fuel for attack ads blogging among public officials will certainly be stifled — or, more troublingly, their blogging could just become very “safe,” nothing you wouldn’t see in a city press release.

Has anyone even mentioned that Wade stole a year and a half of John Parks term as County Commissioner and cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousand of dollars in the process? She is the biggest embarrassment to Guilford County politics ever causing the longest outstanding election result in the country! Wade must be beat at all cost!

No, there’s no revisionist history in that statement, is there?

Trudy Wade’s election to the D5 seat will be a MAJOR step forward in correcting the “business as usual” attitude that has corrupted our city government for quite some time now.

After reading a conservative tabloid weekly, l was shocked to see the political ads by Trudy Wade. While I was considering supporting her candidacy in District 5, I never support candidates that distort the truth or outright lie in order to win. She also insults all of the well versed voters by running blatantly false ads. In the recent political ad she suggested Sandy Carmany has part of the problem for the water shortage in our area. Nothing could be further from the truth. If anyone (including Wade) has been keeping track, the entire Southeast and other sections of the country are in historic drought conditions due to the lack of rain. The Governor is even asking all North Carolinians to conserve water. The current council including Carmany has worked to bring water from various areas including the pipeline from Haw River. The Randleman Dam has been held up by High Point. The Greensboro Council nor Carmany oversees the dam which falls up under the management of the Piedmont Triad Water Authority. So by Wade’s standards we now need to blame Carmany for the lack of rain. For Wade to suggest otherwise is just plain not true and a distortion of the facts. To me Wade is not the type of leadership we need in district 5. After learning more about Carmany on her website, I have come to the conclusion that we already have the best leader for district 5 and that is Sandy Carmany.

Using a candidate’s previous statements in a campaign is just normal politics. At least the blog assures the official that the public is getting the accurate version and in this case certainly does not help Sandy’s campaign.
What’s chilling is the fact that Sandy Carmany continues to potty train an incompetent city manager at the Greensboro taxpayer’s expense.
That showed at the primary and it will show in November.
Blog or no blog, she can not defend that.
We need Trudy Wade’s strength and experience on the Greensboro City Council now more than ever.
HoggMan, enjoy your Boston Butt while the Boston Red Sox kick butt.

She is clearly a major part of the problem in our local government.

I can not see her as being part of the solution required to make the major changes in the way our municipal government manages our city.

Trudy Wade is the one of the right choices the citizens need to make to provide the change to the status quo.

We will not accept the “business as usual” attitude any longer.

:”As for me, I’d rather have an elected official who tells what she is thinking and doing openly and honestly – even to the point of admitting mistakes – than one who never makes a public statement unless she is behind the dias.”

Yeah, right. Carmany’s most recent erroneous claim is that she played an important role in the closing of the Asian Massage Parlors. In real life, she had very little to do with it. In real life, she has never given credit or thanks to those that did. Read the real story here, here and here. Sandy will not answer the most basic questions to back her claim of closing the massage parlors down. Sandy, when did you testify in favor of the 1998 massage Therapy Act? The act passed in 1998. Why did it take until 2002 to get the city to enforce it? I brought it to the city’s attention. Sandy did very little.

Sandy wrongfully attacks those who are doing a good service for the city. The Rhino forced an investigation that got a dishonest contractor removed for the city’s contractor list. Sandy should have thanked the Rhino instead of attacking them.

Sandy supports Linda Miles. Can she sleep at night?

Sandy supports Mitch Johnson and even uses excuses like “The whisper game” to excuse the false information she reports.

Sandy is satisfied with whatever Mitch does.

Sandy is never wrong. She just mistranslates things.

Carmany engages in malicious gossip about city employees habitually. The law states malicious gossip is not to be used when discussing former and current employees. However, Carmany does it all of the time.

    Carmany said,
    2-7-2007 @ 16:41:58 from: 68.18.178.241
“Hogg,Yes, it’s no secret that disgruntled, former city employee C. A. is trying to create trouble for his former employer. With that said, am I the only one who questions if he’s providing ALL the details or maybe just the parts that make the city look bad?”

How about the info provided forced a lying contractor off of the bid list. This hard work, that helped improve the city, was bad to Carmany because it went against her beliefs. Can she sleep at night?

You guys still did not dispute my previous post. I am speaking solely about Wade’s ad blaming Carmany for Greensboro water problems. Now the gang problem. I’m sure more attacks and lies will be forthcoming from the Ex-Commissioner. Her political cartoons look eerily like the cartoonist for the Rhino.

I think the truth here is that you cannot get past the Wray issue so it doesn’t matter if Water, or Transportation, or Gangs or any other topic is being discussed. Your belief that Wray was 100% right and others were 100% wrong blinds you to look at the other candidates and campaign issues which are equally important.

I have examined Sandy and she needs to go. You cannot seem to see any bad in Carmany. She played a very minor role in the closing of the massage parlors but she claims she was a huge factor. She blindly supports Linda and Mitch. I never said Wray was 100% anything except the part where I say I am 100% sure he was not a racist.
