Closed for renovation

As Ben recounts,  we went to lunch today.  Strangely, our first choice – The Barbeque Palace – was not available.  There was a sign on the door indicating they are “closed for renovation”, but when we peered in the door, the place didn’t look like renovations were either going on – or needed.  The establishment just looked closed.

Perhaps owners Skip Alston and Henry Isaacson will be in front of the City Council soon to ask for some additional help with another round of renovations.  Most will recall that the restaurant was extensively renovated prior to opening back in 2005 with the help of a $200,000 city-backed loan from the East Market Street Development Corporation.

    Mr. Hoggard,

I have learned that Skip sold the Palace. Wonder how that loan thing went?
