She’s not here…

One comment really stuck in my mind from today’s news conference with the Reverends.  Someone in the audience asked something about Mayor Yvonne Johnson’s knowledge of the allegations as outlined in the press release.

I believe it was Rev. Brown who made the point that our mayor is in Belgium for the week.

If these allegations have been thoroughly discussed among the Reverends, the Mayor, the Police Chief and our City Manager since last September as the press release indicates, why did the Reverends decide that the best time to take the allegations public was when Mayor Johnson is abroad?  Methinks our mayor is one smart lady and knows the score on this whole flap, because… meanwhile… back in America…

N&R reporter Margaret Banks called former D.A. Mike Schlosser about the disposition of police records from ’back in the day’ when he was in involved in the Klan/Nazi/Communist/Whomever trials.  Banks relates at Cone’s, “…(Schlosser) said the police department turned over all its material to the D.A.’s office before the trials. He said “there’s no question in my mind“.”
