A Dirty Rotten Shame

While our schools are the responsibility of Guilford County government, not the city, I would be remiss if I didn’t comment on the state of things in education from time to time.  Both of my parents are retired school teachers so I have great empathy for the folks who work in the most important profession in our society.  Having three kids in three different Guilford County Schools has given me the opportunity to get to know some of the finest teaching professionals anywhere.

I just read this article about how much teachers spend, of their own money, to help the children they are responible for educating, to succeed.  We should be ashamed to allow this to happen, but it is all too common.

This, and much more useful information, is emailed to me weekly in the form of Superintendent Dr. Terry Grier’s informative Friday Notes.
